You can use this search feature to find all decisions pertaining to any word or phrase in the document.

Start by typing the keyword you are interested in.

Exampleharassment - will return every decision which contains the word harassment.

Be sure to identify phrases with quotations (“”), otherwise the site will search each word individually.

Example: “sexual harassment” will return only the documents which contain these words in sequence.

By typing sexual harassment without quotations, the site will return all documents with both words found in any combination or sequence.

You can refine your search by typing more than one word separated by and.

Examplerace and harassment and damages - this will return only the documents which include all three words in any sequence or combination.

In order to search multiple phrases, you must separate using quotations (“”).

Example: “sexual harassment” “damages” “hearing officer”·· - this will return only the documents which contain all of the phrases in any sequence or combination. When searching for multiple phrases do not separate with and.

You can also refine a search by using not as a qualifier.

Example: harassment not “sexual harassment”·· -this will return all of the harassment cases not related to sexual harassment.

Your search will be expanded by using or between your keywords.

ExampleTerminate or Discharge or Fire - this will return any documents with any of these words or any combination thereof.

Searching by year is not recommended

By typing 2009 into the search bar, the site will return every decision which contains the number 2009, rather than just the decisions issued in 2009. It would be more effective to search by the name of the case, or the issues you are looking for.

When searching a specific date do not include any punctuation. Exampleaugust 5, 2010

If your search does not return the decision you are looking for you may want to…

  • Check that your search is spelled correctly
  • Think of alternative or more descriptive words. Rather than searching racial harassment you might try racial or race or “national origin” harassment. This will widen the search parameters and return more results.
  • Be sure the document you are looking for is a not a Final Investigative Report or Court Decision. (Only Commission and Hearing decisions are posted.)
  • Be sure that if you are searching by a party’s name you are using quotations “john doe”
  • Check to see if the respondent you are searching for could be listed under a different name
