NOTICE: Attention Registered Construction Contractors - Administrative Rule Changes, Public Hearing
We recently sent out proposed Administrative Rule changes for the Construction Contractor Registration program. If you would like to attend the public hearing it takes place on March 16th, 2012 in the Sacajawea Room that is located in the basement of the Walt Sullivan Building. The Walt Sulivan Building is located at 1315 E. Lockey Ave, Helena, MT.

The proposed changes went out through the mail to all registered contractors that were active on February 24, 2012. IMPORTANT: If you are a registered contractor and did not receive this notice, please contact the department at (406) 444-9585 to ensure that we have your current address on file. If the department receives returned mail, without a forwarding address, your Construction Contractor Registration may be suspended for not using a true address MCA(39-9-301(2)).

Independent Contractor Central Unit (ICCU)

IC application (non refundable fee) form is available online. The ICCU has two primary functions. The first is to issue Independent Contractor Exemption Certificates and the second is the determination of worker status (independent contractor or employee) at the request of participating programs. On the ICCU site you will find landmark court cases, independent contractor definitions, ICCU news, and brochures online. You will also find contact information for ICCU, as well as forms and applications to print.

Construction Contractor Registration Unit (CR)

CR application form is available online. The CR registers construction contractors that have employees, corporations and manager-managed limited liability companies. This law was mandated by the 1995 Legislature to ensure that all construction contractors with employees are paying Montana rates for workers' compensation insurance. In this site you will be able to search for registered construction contractors or register as a construction contractor.
